Lake Saratoga Summer Day
Photos and Story by Lawrence White
Residents of Saratoga enjoyed a hot summer day Sunday, July 19, 2020. Many of us headed to Lake Saratoga to enjoy the weather. Even though the temps were in the mid-90s, the breezes were refreshing and the water was pure, clear, and most importantly cool. Families that had been isolating found the day to be an opportunity to bust out of confinement and feel the warm rays of the sun.
When I arrived at Waterfront Park on the west side of the lake, the parking lot was full and I was lucky to find a space. One of the first things I noticed was the groups of people on the lawns and beach areas were largely following the COVID guidelines and keeping a distance from other groups in the area. Despite the important ongoing restrictions, it was a great relief to be out in nature on such an excellent day.
Next, I traveled over to the Fish Creek Marina. I noticed that their parking area was full but they have spaces set aside for handicapped parking and for food pickup from Harvest and Hearth. Fortunately, it was not a big problem to find a space here either.
The restaurant is now open for sit down service Wed.-Sun., 4:30 - 9 pm, and they are offering pick up. There are several parking spaces set aside for food pickup. The Kayak Shack was very busy but there were still plenty of kayaks to rent for anyone showing up later in the day.
The Marina at Fish Creek is full for 2020 but they are taking reservations for 2021. I also noticed that some of the larger boats were being booked for excursions out onto the lake. For more information contact their office.
In all of the years I have been photographing Saratoga, I have never become bored or jaded at the beauty of our area and of the wonderful assets we enjoy year-round. Lake Saratoga is surely one of the most prime locations to enjoy the out of doors and it is truly a great pleasure to savor it this time of year.
